What's On in 2024

From fossicking to fine jewellery and everything in between, there’s a bounty of hidden gems waiting to be unearthed at the annual Minerama Fossicking, Gem & Jewellery show held in Glen Innes, NSW.

Glen Innes Mineral & Gem Club Fossicking Field Trips

Tickets on sale from 9am AEDT Monday 19 February 

Fossicking field trips are back! Whether you’re a beginner or have experience, these trips are a great opportunity to try your luck panning for hidden gems.

Viking Knitting Workshops

The ancient craft of Viking knitting is a technique that intertwines wire and beads to create stunning jewellery pieces. Whether you’re a novice eager to learn the basics, or an experienced crafter seeking to refine your skills, our workshops cater to all levels of expertise.

With three successful albums under his belt and 26 number-one songs to his credit, this Golden Guitar-winning Australiana singer-songwriter charms crowds with an intriguing musical blend of witty old-school storytelling and tongue-in-cheek Aussie humour.

Glen Innes Mineral & Gem Club

The Glen Innes Mineral & Gem Club will be operating a kids’ fossicking area at the show, providing an exciting opportunity for your little ones to have fun discovering hidden treasures.

At their stall, you’ll also find a lucky dip, bags of sapphire/gem wash for sale, and a great range of cut gems, polished stones, and finished jewellery pieces.

Cabochon polishing and faceting demonstrations will also be a highlight not to miss! 

University of New England's Discovery Voyager Team

Come and chat with the UNE Discovery team about all things rocks and prehistoric in front of the Old Pavilion.

Mineralogy & Lapidary Experts

Bring along your rocks and gems for identification by our onsite minerology and lapidary experts throughout the day in the Old Pavilion. You never know what you may have in your drawer.

Jurassic Jack Roarsome Adventure

Jurassic Jack and his rangers are returning to Minerama for some ROARsome adventure! 

Dinosaurs have captured our imagination for generations with a sense of wonder and awe, and you’re invited to stomp by the campsite and take photos with this prehistoric tribute Jeep that roars like a T-Rex. 

Cute baby dinosaurs and cheeky Spike the Spinosaurus will be waiting to greet guests keen to check out fossils, movie replicas, and Junior Ranger fossil dig boxes. 

Jurassic Jack has been seen on TV and at events across NSW and is a supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Kids Activities in the Old Pavillion

There’s so much for kids to see and do at Minerama, and the Rock Hounds area in the Old Pavillion will be a hive of activity.

Face Painting

Saturday 9 March, 10am to 2pm

The Face Paint Lady will be set up in the Old Pavillion to bring joy to the kids with fun and creative designs. 

Pet Rock Making & Painting

Kids can get creative making pet rocks in the Old Pavillion.

Little Diggers

Little kids can dig in the sand for gems and prizes.

Schools Colouring-In Competition

Each year, schools in the local area enter Minerama’s Colouring-In Competition, where each entry is then displayed at the show for judging and for all to admire, adding an inviting and colourful touch to the pavilion they’re displayed within.   

Prizes for competition winners kindly supplied by local businesses The Super Strawberry, The Furry Cow, and Chazzico.
